Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership

Cambridge AHRC DTP1 Postdoctoral Fellowships (6 to 9 months)

The Cambridge AHRC DTP is pleased to announce a short-term Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme providing opportunities for Cambridge AHRC DTP1 students and alumni in the early postdoctoral stage of their career. The scheme aims to provide the opportunity for students to consolidate their doctoral training through developing publications and impact, widening their networks, and honing their research and professional skills.

The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) has decided to allow DTP1 grant holders to use unallocated funding to support postdoctoral fellowships of at least 6 months and no more than 9 months in duration, to finish no later than 30 September 2023.

The scheme prioritises those students whose opportunities for development activities were hampered by the COVID pandemic and lockdowns, but applications may be made by any DTP1 students and alumni whose completion date falls between 1 September 2020 and 31 December 2022. For these purposes, ‘completion date’ means the date on which the relevant department notified the student that they had successfully met the requirements for the award of the PhD.

The scheme will run from 1 January to 30 September 2023. The application and selection process will take place in Michaelmas Term 2022. Fellowships must be completed by 30 September 2023 because no costs incurred after this date can be charged to the DTP1 grant.

We anticipate appointing to at least 6 fellowships. These fellowships may be held (subject to the approval of the Head of Institution) in any of the University’s Faculties or Departments, or in any of its research-related institutions such as the University Library, the Fitzwilliam Museum, or other members of the University of Cambridge Museums group.

The closing date for applications will be 12pm Tuesday 15 November 2022.

Eligible DTP1 students or alumni who are interested in applying for one of these fellowships should contact Adrienn Dobos at for further particulars and details on how to apply.
